Overview
Nabana no Sato is a large flower park in Kuwana, Mie, that stages one of Japan’s biggest and longest-running winter illuminations. Millions of LEDs are arranged into light tunnels, an immense themed main display and a mirror-like water feature, blending seasonal flowers with the light show. It is a polished, family-friendly attraction rather than a traditional festival, drawing crowds from nearby Nagoya all winter.
When & Where
The 2026-2027 illumination runs from October 17, 2026, through May 31, 2027, lit each evening after dusk. Nabana no Sato lies in Kuwana, about 30 minutes from Nagoya. Nearest access: direct highway buses from Nagoya, or Kuwana Station plus a local bus.
Getting There
The easiest route is a direct bus from Nagoya Station, roughly 30 minutes. Alternatively, take a train to Kuwana Station on the Kintetsu or JR lines, then a local bus to the park. Because the illumination is an evening event with heavy winter demand, check the last return bus or train before you go.
What to Expect
The centrepiece is a huge seasonal display that changes each year, viewed from a raised walkway, reached through a signature 200-metre tunnel of warm-white lights. Additional highlights include a coloured light tunnel, the Cloud of Lights, and illuminated flower beds. Cafes, shops and a footbath round out an evening designed for lingering.
Tickets & Access
Unlike most events here, Nabana no Sato charges admission, generally from around 2,500 yen, often including a voucher usable in the park. No reservation is required for general entry, though weekends and holidays are very busy. The grounds are broad and largely accessible, with paved paths throughout.
Tips for Visitors
Weeknights are far calmer than weekends and holidays. Arrive around dusk to see the flowers before dark, then stay for the full illumination. Dress warmly for the winter evening, and confirm your return transport times before the displays close.
